They’ve done it!!! The intrepid 5 reached their final destination of Bowness on Solway, exactly 7 days and 100 miles after leaving Wallsend to walk the length of Hadrians Wall.

Although they were not greeted with a ticker tape parade and dancing girls, or even carried shoulder high through the Town, victory was theirs; along with aching joints and blistered feet.

The combined efforts of Ron Fisher, Alan Chapman, Chris Marvin, Alex Bacon and Donna Gibb have resulted in the fantastic sum of £2,000 being raised for the Friends of Ashanti and together we would like to say a BIG THANKYOU to all their willing sponsors.

Mickledore Travel did an excellent job of organising the itinerary, arranging luggage transfers and packed lunches and the walkers would highly recommend them to anyone thinking of undertaking such a journey.
