THE TIGER 1000 ROAD TRIP
April 22nd, 2008THE TIGER 1000 ROAD TRIP
EARL SHILTON TO DOETINCHEM
GREAT NEWS!!! THE CONTENTS OF A DUTCH HOSPITAL – OURS FOR THE PRICE OF SHIPMENT!!!
Thanks to Dr. Duveken Voors and her contacts in Holland, the G G Marvin Memorial Hospital could soon be the proud owners of 40 hospital beds and other ancillary items!
The Friends of Ashanti Ghana have been given the opportunity to acquire the contents of a hospital in Doetinchem, Holland which is closing. The items are all destined to be thrown away on 30th May, unless we can raise the funds required to ship them to Ghana. This is estimated at £10k, which includes the cost of two steel containers and shipping.
A band of willing volunteers led by Chris Marvin has been mobilised for the task of driving to Holland to assist with the emptying of the hospital and loading of the containers. These include, Nick Marvin, Robert Marvin, Billy Marvin, Stuart Marvin and Gordon Marvin, as well as Gordon Davies, Niels Staat and Keith Duncombe. All are giving up their time free of charge and working hard in the meantime to get sponsorship from friends and family.
In an effort to keep down costs, the 1000 mile round trip is being made in a converted 1959 Leyland Tiger Cub bus, which will provide living accommodation for all the helpers during the stay. The Tiger Cub, pictured below, was once used to ferry holidaymakers around in Portsmouth and has a top speed of only 50 miles per hour.
We desperately need YOUR HELP to make this happen! £10,000 is a lot of money and we only have a short time in which to raise this.
If you are interested in helping the Friends of Ashanti to achieve this latest goal – please hit the DONATE icon at the top of this page and give whatever you can to help drive on the Tiger 1000 Road Trip!!
THANK YOU.
